10 Things We Love About Living in Brentwood, California

Brentwood & Beyond | Community • Lifestyle • Real Estate

By Kevin & Tawnya Erickson | Erickson Realty Group

There's a reason so many people fall in love with Brentwood, California—and why so many of us are proud to call it home.

Nestled in the heart of East Contra Costa County, Brentwood offers something increasingly special: a welcoming community where small-town charm, beautiful neighborhoods, local traditions, and everyday conveniences come together.

We've been fortunate to call Brentwood home for more than two decades, raising our family, building our real estate business, and becoming involved with some amazing local organizations. Along the way, we've discovered that what makes Brentwood special isn't just the homes or the scenery. It's the people and the lifestyle.

Here are 10 things we love most about living in Brentwood!

1. The Charm of Historic Downtown Brentwood

There's nothing quite like spending an afternoon in Downtown Brentwood. Whether you're grabbing coffee, meeting friends for lunch, browsing locally owned shops, or enjoying dinner, downtown has a welcoming atmosphere that keeps us coming back.

First Street and the surrounding downtown area have become a gathering place for neighbors, friends, and families. We especially love seeing downtown come alive during community events and celebrations.

It's one of those places where you can run into someone you know almost every time you visit.

2. Our Incredible Local Farmers and Agriculture

One of Brentwood's greatest treasures is its agricultural heritage.

From sweet cherries and juicy peaches to fresh corn, berries, and seasonal produce, we're surrounded by some incredible local farms.

The annual U-pick season is a favorite tradition, attracting visitors from throughout the Bay Area. There's something special about picking fresh fruit right from the orchard and supporting the farming families who help preserve Brentwood's agricultural roots.

And those beautiful orchards and open fields? They're a wonderful reminder of our city's history.

3. Community Events That Bring Everyone Together

If there's one thing Brentwood knows how to do, it's bring people together!

From Hometown Halloween and Oktoberfest to holiday celebrations, farmers markets, and local fundraisers, there's always a reason to get out and enjoy the community.

We particularly love seeing families, friends, local businesses, and volunteers come together to make these events successful.

These traditions create lasting memories and give Brentwood that genuine hometown feeling.

4. Amazing Local Restaurants and Small Businesses

Brentwood has an impressive collection of locally owned restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, and family businesses.

Whether you're looking for a casual breakfast, a great dinner, a relaxing afternoon with friends, or a unique gift, there's plenty to discover.

We believe shopping and dining locally is one of the best ways to support our community. Behind so many of these businesses are hardworking owners and families who invest their time, energy, and hearts into Brentwood.

Supporting them helps keep our community strong.

5. Beautiful Parks, Trails, and Outdoor Recreation

One of the benefits of living in Brentwood is having so many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.

Our neighborhood parks, walking paths, playgrounds, and nearby regional open spaces make it easy to get outside and enjoy some fresh air.

We also have access to beautiful destinations like Round Valley Regional Preserve, where visitors can experience the natural beauty of East Contra Costa County.

Whether it's a morning walk, an afternoon bike ride, or a weekend exploring the outdoors, there's something for nearly everyone.

6. The Wonderful Variety of Neighborhoods and Homes

As real estate professionals, we have the opportunity to experience Brentwood's many different neighborhoods firsthand.

From charming established communities and newer developments to golf course properties, ranch-style homes, larger lots, and active adult communities, Brentwood offers a wide range of housing choices.

Each neighborhood has its own personality, amenities, and unique appeal.

But what we appreciate most is that so many residents take pride in their homes and neighborhoods. That pride contributes to the character of our community.

7. Our Incredible Volunteers and Community Organizations

This one is especially close to our hearts.

Brentwood is filled with people who generously give their time to help others. Through organizations like the Brentwood Lions Club, local service groups, nonprofit organizations, and community partnerships, countless volunteers work throughout the year to make a positive difference.

We're grateful to be involved in several local organizations and have witnessed firsthand how much good can happen when people come together.

From supporting local students and families to organizing fundraisers and community service projects, Brentwood's volunteer spirit is something truly worth celebrating.

8. Those Beautiful Brentwood Sunsets

Sometimes it's the simplest things that remind us why we love where we live.

One of our favorites? A beautiful Brentwood sunset.

Whether you're enjoying the evening from your backyard, driving past the surrounding orchards, or relaxing with friends at a local gathering spot, the colorful skies and beautiful East County landscape can be breathtaking.

It's a small reminder to slow down and appreciate the place we call home.

9. The Convenience of Being Close to So Much

Brentwood offers the comfortable feel of a suburban community while providing access to many of Northern California's popular destinations.

From the recreational opportunities of the California Delta to nearby wineries, regional parks, and neighboring East Bay communities, there's always something new to explore.

Residents also have access to shopping, restaurants, schools, recreation, and other everyday conveniences close to home.

We appreciate being able to enjoy Brentwood's more relaxed atmosphere while staying connected to the greater Bay Area.

10. Most Importantly, the People!

We saved our favorite for last.

What truly makes Brentwood special isn't a building, a park, or even a beautiful home.

It's the people.

It's the neighbors who look out for one another, the small business owners who greet you by name, the volunteers who show up when someone needs help, and the friendships that develop over years of living and working in the same community.

After more than two decades in Brentwood, we've been fortunate to meet so many wonderful people, build lasting relationships, and become part of a community that means so much to our family.

And that's something you simply can't put a price on.

Brentwood Is More Than a Place to Live. It's Home.

As Realtors, we spend a great deal of time talking about homes, neighborhoods, property values, and the real estate market.

But we've always believed that finding the right home is about more than square footage or the number of bedrooms.

It's about finding a place where you feel connected, comfortable, and proud to belong.

For us, that's Brentwood.

We're excited to continue sharing local stories, upcoming events, neighborhood information, real estate insights, and the people and places that make our area special through Brentwood & Beyond.

Whether you're a longtime resident, new to the community, or considering making Brentwood your home, we hope you'll discover even more reasons to love this wonderful city.

What do YOU love most about living in Brentwood? We'd love to hear from you!

Until next time, we'll see you around town!
